Delivering new rail, trackwork turnouts, contact rail, coverboards, insulator assemblies and bonded insulated joints. The Fern Rock Yard Track Renewal Project is completely funded by The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The five-year contract is worth more than $42.9 million. Over the course of the contract, which will take effect on October 1, the network will increase by 50 percent as line extensions are put into service.
The Bonneville Transit Center will serve as the central transit hub for the RTC’s ACE Rapid Transit system, ACExpress commuter services and the RTC’s fixed-route transit system.
The $19.2 million entrance also will benefit Amtrak, Long Island Railroad and New York City subway riders who share the midtown Manhattan rail hub by alleviating crowding at other entrances and interior walkways.
The order follows a framework agreement in 2006 for a maximum of 210 vehicles and includes 40 long and 24 short one-way vehicles as well as 35 short bidirectional vehicles trams.
