The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville could reap significant benefits from two express bus routes launched earlier this month by Ozark Regional Transit (ORT).

University officials hope that students, faculty and staff can use Routes 50 and 54 to get to and from the university, reducing the need for car commutes and campus parking.

Route 54 in particular has the potential to increase bus commuting because it links the university with NorthWest Arkansas Community College campuses in Fayetteville, Springdale and Bentonville. The route is supported by $20,000 in student fee funding from the community college and will run through the end of the current school year.
