A majority of university transportation and parking directors, assistant directors, managers and supervisors in the U.S. believe their salaries are low based on their duties and responsibilities.

In a survey conducted by METRO Magazine, 56 percent of the respondents described their salaries as “low,” while 38 percent said their salaries are “about right.” Meanwhile, 6 percent of the respondents said their salaries are “very low.” None of the respondents rated their salaries as “high” or “very high.”

The average salary reported in the survey of 51 university parking and transportation managers was $73,692. The lowest salary reported was $32,350, and the highest was $165,000. The median was $70,250.

The survey targeted directors, assistant directors, managers, supervisors and coordinators. Broken down by title, directors averaged the highest salary ($87,043), followed by assistant/associate directors ($78,680), managers ($61,393), supervisors ($50,204) and coordinators ($42,000)

The areas of responsibility included transportation only, parking only, and parking and transportation. The average salary by area of responsibility — transportation only ($78,000), parking only ($60,700), and parking and transportation ($77,446).
