High taxes threaten car sharing industry

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Car sharing services, like Zipcar, which have shown growth across the country, including college and university campuses, are in jeopardy due to high taxes, according to a new study. Because the services are subject to the full array of taxes imposed on traditional car rentals, the car sharing industry is experiencing losses, The Republic reported.
