Utah Transit plan to end free passes may hurt students

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is considering eliminating all discounted and free passes in its plan to switch from flat fees to distance-based fares, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. One-third of students and staff use free transit passes.

However, the change, which is intended to boost ridership revenue and fare equity, is probably years away, and no final decisions have been made. For the full story, click here.
