OREM, Utah — To appeal to a population of students who are constantly texting, Utah Valley University added a texting lane to one of its staircases in the Student Life and Wellness Center, several news outlets reported, including USA Today College.

A recent report issued by the National Safety Council claims that there was an estimated number of 11,101 injuries reported between 2000 and 2011 as a result of "distracted walking." The university’s concept originally started as a laughing matter, but quickly went viral after the realization of how dangerous texting and walking actually is. For the full story, click here.
