WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.  — The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority is offering a pilot expansion of weekday bus service, open to Williams College students and the community, between Williamstown and North Adams, the North Adams Transcript reported. The project includes a pilot texting option that allows riders to notify the bus company of their presence at one of the new "On Demand" bus stops.

The program was proposed by a "Bus With Us Planning Group" from Williams College to improve access to educational, work and shopping opportunities in the region. The college is paying for the free service offered to members of the college’s community. The cost is comparable to what the college had been spending to run its own transportation for students.
