CHARLOTTE, N.C. — While the Republican National Convention relied on private charter buses to shuttle delegates around Tampa, Fla. the Democratic National Convention will rely in part on rail to mitigate traffic, Tampa Bay Times reported. Since Monday, attendees and other passengers boosted ridership on Charlotte Area Transit System's LYNX by 148% over a typical weekday.
About 250 buses will be used to move nearly 6,000 delegates to DNC events. In Tampa, 400 buses were used to transport 2,200 delegates, a plan that was later judged as insufficient after several buses were late for many state delegations. For the full story, click here.
