California-based transit agency Porterville Transit has chosen RouteMatch Software as its end-to-end ITS technologies provider. RouteMatch will deliver a completely integrated solution for the city's paratransit, fixed route and traveler information services. Porterville Transit will also use RouteMatch's mobile solutions using Android-based tablet devices as in-vehicle mobile data devices to enhance on-time performance and real-time traveler information services.

Purchase of the ITS technologies supports Porterville Transit's ridership-focused efforts, continuing on recent improvements made by the availability of newer and more comfortable, large capacity buses and concentrated efforts to enhance rider experience. The 2011-2012 year has proved to be the second-highest year for ridership in the City of Porterville's history.

Porterville Transit currently serves a 30% student population, 10% senior population and 60% commuter population and operates eight fixed routes and three paratransit buses.

Porterville Transit will also be replacing its current automated vehicle location (AVL) system with RouteMatch mobile data solutions using tablets. This is expected to help the transit agency cut back on paper, monitor on-time performance, and provide real-time data for the transit agency's traveler information systems.
