SACRAMENTO, Calif. — To provide a commuting alternative to the region’s most congested freeway, Sacramento Regional Transit recently broke ground on a $270 million, 4.3-mile rail extension, The Sacramento Bee reported.

The light-rail extension was initially planned to open several years ago but was delayed by the economic downturn. The target opening date is September 2015. For the full story, click here.
