The Seattle Center Monorail is celebrating 50 years of service this year.

The one-mile-long monorail line, which was built for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair to provide a crucial link between the fairgrounds and the amenities downtown, carried 1.9 million passengers in 2011. The Monorail is owned by the City of Seattle and operated by Seattle Monorail Services LLC.
