PORTLAND, Ore. — Due to an increased police presence, crime on TriMet’s MAX lines is down, despite some recent high-profile assaults of riders and bus drivers, the Portland Tribune reported.

In 2005, 780 crimes were reported in the MAX system, dropping to a low of 413 crime reports in 2009. In 2007, Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis ordered local police officers to patrol trains moving through the city. For the full story, click here.
