FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Tri-Rail’s new, $14.8 million automated fare system, the Easy Card, has charged some passengers twice when they try to add money to their cards or the validators don’t scan the cards at all, putting riders at risk of getting taken off the train, SunSentinel.com reported.

A Tri-Rail spokeswoman told SunSentinel.com that most of the validator problems have been fixed and said most of the problem was that passengers don’t understand how the system works. For the full story, click here.
