The San Ramon, Calif.-based Bishop Ranch business community, which is home to more than 550 companies and 33,000 employees, announced the arrival of its three millionth passenger using its express shuttle service to and from the local Bay Area Rapid Transit District station.

Bishop Ranch has taken a leadership role in addressing the transit needs of its commuters, which has helped eliminate more than 10,000 cars on the road every day, resulting in almost two million pounds fewer pollutants released into the air.

The shuttle system is a key component of the Bishop Ranch Transportation Association (BRTA), sponsored by Sunset Development Co. and Chevron Corp.

In addition to the express commuter shuttle, Bishop Ranch has implemented a broad range of other state-of-the art "green" initiatives including recycling, energy conservation and green cleaning.
