Portland, Ore.'s TriMet launched its first commuter rail line Monday with an opening ceremony in Tigard.
Costing $166 million, the 14.7 mile Westside Express Service (WES) runs north from Wilsonville to Beaverton, serving five stations, and connects with existing MAX light rail service to provide access to Portland.
TriMet is using four diesel multiple-unit cars originally produced by now-bankrupt Colorado Railcar Manufacturing LLC.
