To enhance mobility options for its customers, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is expanding the ReadiRide service to three new communities beginning July 1.

JTA offers ReadiRide through Owl Inc. to provide affordable, on-call transportation for customers seeking short trips within certain neighborhoods. Unlike traditional bus service, ReadiRide does not operate on a fixed-route, giving customers more control over where they want to be transported.

ReadiRide currently operates in designated zones within the Beaches, Highlands, Northside, Southeast and Southwest communities. The expansion comprises areas within the Arlington, Mandarin and Southside neighborhoods.

“One of our biggest challenges is helping customers connect to the first or last miles of their journeys,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel Ford Sr. “By extending the ReadiRide service to these neighborhoods, we’re meeting this challenge head-on and giving our customers more access to mobility.”

Single trips are $2 per passenger when picked up and dropped off at a non-JTA location. Customers seeking transport to a JTA bus stop, station, or transit hub pay $.50 per trip. Customers can purchase fares with cash, (exact change only), or through the free MyJTA app, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for Apple and Android mobile devices.
