Kevin R. Collins PE, has been named HNTB Corp.’s Seattle office leader, based in the firm’s Bellevue office. A vice president, Collins brings more than two decades of transportation industry experience to the position. He succeeds Jim Thomson, PE, who recently was appointed president of HNTB’s new Northwest Division.

Collins leads a team of more than 230 transportation infrastructure and architecture professionals delivering aviation, toll, highway, transit, rail, planning, program/construction management, tunneling and other services to clients in this region. He’s responsible for driving technical excellence for many of the region’s transportation agencies, offering expertise and guidance on their major programs. He also is growing the diversity and size of HNTB’s presence in the region, and training success-oriented leaders.

Since joining HNTB in 2013, Collins served as project manager on Sound Transit’s East Link and Lynnwood Link Extensions. He led multidiscipline teams responsible for developing solutions and delivering results on more than $2 billion in high-profile and highly complex infrastructure projects. He also serves as the firm’s client service leader for Sound Transit.

HNTB established its Seattle office in 1961, but the firm traces its roots in the region back to 1912, when the Columbia River Interstate Bridge between Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, opened. The bridge was designed by John Lyle Harrington, a partner in HNTB’s predecessor firm, Waddell & Harrington. HNTB has grown to employ more than 180 professionals in the region who help play a role in planning and delivering high-profile transportation infrastructure projects across the state and around the country.
