First Transit announced the launch of an on-demand transportation pilot program for the residents of Redding, Calif.’s Far Northern Regional Center, which specializes in adults with developmental disabilities.

First Transit’s on-demand program, called RediRide, launched in late 2017. RediRide provides transportation to key areas of the city, allowing residents access to entertainment, shopping, and dining options; work or school; and even medical appointments.

Residents of the Far Northern Regional Center can book for a ride online or by contacting a call center.

“With more than 3,000 passenger rides to date, I’m so proud that we could bring additional mobility options for the residents,” said Kathleen Cravens, GM at First Transit. “One of the goals of the Far Northern Regional Center program is to develop independence, and we are helping provide exactly that.”
