Transdev announced the appointment of Gerry Weber as the new chief operating officer of VTMI, Transdev's Railroad Infrastructure and Maintenance of Way subsidiary. He starts immediately.
Weber's background makes him an ideal choice for a position overseeing two major maintenance contracts in Los Angeles and Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. In addition to strengthening performance where needed, Weber has been tasked with growing the business. Weber has spent the entirety of his career in progressive roles with Canadian National Railway, most recently as VP of Supply/Fleet/Fuel Management where he was responsible for all maintenance service contracts and material supply for over $1 billion worth of annual maintenance of way (MOW) capital infrastructure projects.
Since its founding, VTMI has constructed or maintains more than 6,000 miles of rail, most recently completing the Perris Valley extension for Metrolink in Los Angeles. During his previous employment with CN, one of the largest rail companies in North America with more than 20,000 employees, Weber served in a variety of roles such as chief mechanical officer, superintendent of operations and in various engineering roles.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering degree from McGill University.
