The Prime Minister of the UK, Theresa May, visited bus and coach manufacturer Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) to announce export finance support for British businesses and to celebrate a major order for the company for the deliver of 90 low-emission double-deck buses to Mexico City.

This contract is supported by the Department for International Trade, whose UK Export Finance agency made a $56 million dollar finance deal available to ADL as part of a wider $2 billion dollar program of support for UK companies in international markets.

The order from Metrobús, first announced in October 2015, has been ADL’s biggest single deal from a single customer in a brand new market. The modern, comfortable high-capacity Enviro500 buses will ease road congestion and improve street level air quality on the Paseo de la Reforma boulevard in Mexico City.

“We are privileged to have the Prime Minister here to announce Government support for exporting businesses like ADL," said Colin Robertson, ADL chief executive. "Our ability to offer finance from UK Export Finance in Mexican Pesos was a significant benefit to our buyer, helping us win this major contract.”
