RATP Dev North America announced the appointment of Robert Smith as the senior VP of operations for the West Region of RATP Dev Bus Division.

Smith will lead RATP Dev’s operations and business development in the western continental U.S. He will be based in Fort Worth, Texas and work with clients in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and California.

Smith will oversee RATP Dev’s current operations in the western region, and will help expand new business into other states in bus, metro, and light rail operations. Additionally, he will assist with ongoing national projects with his colleagues in the East and Central regions.

Smith previously served as chief transit officer of the Chicago Transit Authority. Prior to his work in Chicago, he was the CEO of the Maryland Transit Authority in Baltimore, and served as the VP of operations (East Area) at National Express Corporation. Throughout his career, Smith has managed bus, subway, light rail, commuter rail, and paratransit services.
