Grande West Transportation Group Inc., a Canadian bus manufacturer of heavy-duty mid-sized transit buses for sale in Canada and the U.S., announced new orders for nine Vicinity buses for a combined order total of approximately $4.5 million.

Canada’s Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) ordered five compressed natural gas Vicinity buses. This is a first time order for HSR and will be delivered through Grande West’ eastern Canadian service and sales partner, City View, in the first quarter of 2018. The City of Moose Jaw also ordered an additional four Vicinity buses.

"It's very exciting to be working with HSR with our new CNG Vicinity,” said William Trainer, CEO of Grande West. “HSR has a tremendous history in CNG propulsion as they pioneered the world's first fleet of CNG buses in 1985. HSR is very familiar with the technology and we are looking forward to supporting their operations team as the buses are rolled out into revenue service."

Current total firm orders for 2017 and the first half of 2018 Vicinity deliveries are for 276 buses valued at over $74 million.
