MINNEAPOLIS – State Republicans want Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to deny Minnesota almost $900 million in requested funding for the Minneapolis-to-Eden Prairie Southwest Corridor light rail project, MPR News reports.

Even though cities spanning the proposed 14-mile line have signed off, the legislators opposing the project say there are too many legal and financial uncertainties, as well as ridership questions for it to move forward.

In all 84 legislators signed the letter to Chao, which calls the light rail project a "grossly wasteful project." For the full story, click here.
