HART leasing Teslas to expand rideshare program

TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) authority is leasing four Tesla  vehicles to expand its rideshare pilot program in the University of South Florida area, reported the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The HART HyperLINK program partners with Transdev to provide direct connections from door to bus stop through an on-demand ride-hailing service similar to Uber, the report said.

The program aims to expand using Tesla vehicles equipped with autonomous vehicle technology, but will initially have "drivers" to ensure safety, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
