SEPTA adds more trains, increases frequencies

PHILADELPHIA — In an attempt to boost frequencies and ease overcrowding, SEPTA added five more railcars and adjusted its commuter rail schedule, NBC 10 reports.

The five railcars, which are being leased from the Maryland Area Commuter Service, will be put into service on SEPTA’s Regional Rail system Monday while another five are expected by the middle of next week. Changes to the Regional Rail Interim weekday schedule will also go into effect Monday and include enhancements on some of SEPTA’s most heavily traveled lines, according to the report.

SEPTA removed 120 Silverliner V trains from service earlier this month after workers discovered a serious structural defect on the trains. For the full story, click here.
