CLEMSON, S.C. — With the city’s downtown and university campus building boom causing annoyances for those trying to park a car, Clemson University and City officials say a long-term solution to mitigate the problem is walkability, the Independent Mail reports.
Officials say walking to classes and other events on campus, or to downtown bars and restaurants, cuts the traffic on city and campus streets, eases parking headaches and reduces the cost of road maintenance.
Walkable living arrangements are set to increase over the next two years, with three developments set to bring 1,500 new bedrooms within an easy walk to campus by sometime next year and another two developments set to be built over the next two years. For the full story, click here.
