SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s board of directors adopted a new budget, which includes a 25-cent surcharge for Muni riders who pay with cash instead of using the Clipper smart card system, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The goal of the surcharge, which is also described as a discount for Clipper card users, is to persuade more riders to use Clipper or a Muni fare app, speeding boarding times and cutting costs. If approved by the Board of Supervisors, the surcharge would take effect in January 2017. For the full story, click here.
