ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. — Workers removed the two derailed Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) train cars that derailed into a canyon on Monday night, one of which was partially submerged into a creek, with operations resuming as normal on Wednesday, KTVU reports.

Investigators told KTVU that preliminary findings indicate that the ACE train hit a mudslide on the tracks, causing the first railcar to roll into the creek. All train service on the line, which stretches from San Jose to Stockton, was canceled Tuesday while crews attempted to clear the mud and remove the damaged railcars using a crane.
