JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri lawmakers are considering legislation that would allow people to carry concealed guns onto public buses and city trains, the Columbia Daily Tribune reports.

The bill by is the latest legislative effort to expand where people can carry firearms. In addition to the public transit proposals — which failed last year in both chambers — lawmakers also are considering whether to require colleges and universities to allow concealed weapons on campuses.

Mass transit representatives for St. Louis, Springfield and Kansas City opposed the legislation, saying cities should be able to regulate their own public transportation. The bill would not apply to Amtrak trains. For the full story, click here.
