LAS VEGAS — Despite speed bumps and delay over the past ten years, the proposed high-speed rail link between Las Vegas and southern California, XpressWest, made huge news announcing a joint venture with a Chinese company, China Railway International USA that will pump $100 million into the project, News 3LV reported.

The joint venture says construction could begin in September 2016 once it has acquired all the necessary approvals, the report said.

XpressWest would be built in stages, with the first line running from Las Vegas to Victorville. From there, the project would head to Palmdale, where it would eventually hook up to California’s high speed rail network, according to News 3LV.
