Electric campus shuttle helps U. of Alaska Fairbanks reduce footprint

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The newest shuttle bus on campus runs on electricity, making it the largest addition to a growing fleet of electric vehicles at University of Alaska Fairbanks, reported newsminer.com.

The roughly $40,000 investment in the shuttle was made by the UAF Office of Sustainability, which is supported by a $20-per-semester fee on each student at the school, the report said.

The 15-passenger Moto Electro Transit Buddy shuttle was proposed as a way to reduce the carbon footprint on campus, which also utilizes 10 electric carts for landscaping and recycling, according to newsminer.com.
