NEW YORK — Musician James Murphy and beer maker Heineken is launching a campaign to make Murphy’s “subway symphony” on the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) subway system a reality, Transportation Nation reported.

Murphy’s plan is to give each turnstile a unique sound, which he says could change the users experience from being a “nightmare” to a “beautiful time.” MTA officials, however, say the turnstiles’ beep serves a purpose for the visually-impaired and taking the more than 3,000 turnstiles out of service to tweak them would be difficult from a logistical perspective.
