NEW YORK — Uber, which is facing criticism after an executive suggested he was willing to pay to investigate reporters’ lives, took steps to hire researchers to "weaponize facts" against the taxi industry, reported several sources including The Salt Lake Tribune.
Uber’s rapid growth has triggered fierce opposition from taxi and limousine groups. In response, Uber has sought to hire people to refute any inaccurate information from competitors, the San Francisco-based startup said, confirming a report by online publication BuzzFeed earlier Friday that was based on an internal Uber document.
