ORLANDO, Fla. — City and county leaders hope that an $18.4 million freight railroad track upgrade slated to be completed nearly one year earlier than expected could open the door to passenger train service between Lake and Orange counties, including downtown Orlando, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
Most of the improvements are expected to be finished in March.
City and regional planners believe the modernized track could pave the way for an Apopka-Lake County connection to the SunRail commuter line, according to the paper. For the full story, click here.
