CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Observer reported that hybrid and electric bus manufacturer DesignLine USA confirmed that it has closed operations for 10 days and furloughed its workers for that period of time. DesignLine declined to comment on the reason for the furloughs.

The manufacturer has struggled in recent years with a lawsuit by the city of Baltimore alleging missed deadlines, a canceled contract with the Antelope Valley Transit Authority in California, and a bus that caught fire at the Charlotte airport.

DesignLine had also employed U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, the former Mayor of Charlotte. Foxx had served as deputy general counsel. For the full story, click here.
