Luminator announced a standalone Rear View Camera for mass transit buses. This standalone camera version complements the previously announced rear view camera integrated into a rear sign. The standalone camera can be used on buses which already have new rear signs installed or vehicles which do not need a rear sign such as compact shuttle buses, vans, and trolleys.
Using standard mirrors alone limits a driver’s visibility behind the vehicle. Having a rear view camera enables the driver to quickly and easily see any obstacles or pedestrians in that “blind spot.”
The Rear View Camera’s live video stream is triggered when the vehicle is placed into reverse gear. The video stream will appear on the Multi-Control Unit (MCU) LCD screen near the driver. The MCU is a multi-function device, which eliminates the need for an additional video display device.
