BYD delivers 2 30-foot battery electric buses to ART

BYD completed delivery of two K7M 30-foot battery-electric buses to Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) in Anaheim, Calif. The buses will help serve ART’s nine million annual riders, which includes guests of Disneyland and other Anaheim attractions.

Another 40 clean-energy electric BYD buses are scheduled to be delivered to ART this year. The BYD buses will help ART reach its goal of having a 50% electrified fleet by the end of 2020, as part of the #ElectrifyAnaheim initiative. At that time, ART will have one of the largest zero-emissions bus fleets in America.

BAE Systems was selected by Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and the Republic of Ireland’s National Transport Authority (NTA) to supply up to 600 electric power and propulsion systems for its new fleet of buses in Ireland. The selection includes an initial order for 100 systems.

With Series-ER, the buses will be able to drive on clean electric power through designated low and zero emission zones. The system uses global positioning software to enable the buses to run in full electric mode when they enter the zones. The buses switch to battery power when the engine is off — eliminating the release of exhaust emissions in populated areas such as near schools, hospitals, and tourist attractions.
