Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) GM/CEO Jeffrey Parker named Atlanta Police Department veteran Scott Kreher as the new chief of police and emergency management. Chief Kreher will report directly to Chief of System Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Wanda Y. Dunham.

As a Georgia State undergrad 30 years ago, Chief Kreher knew law enforcement was his passion. From his first assignment as a Zone 3 patrol officer to his work as deputy chief ensuring the safety of the city during large-scale events, he has held positions of increasing responsibility since joining the Atlanta Police Department in 1993.

Chief Kreher served as commander of several units in the Atlanta Police Department, including the Support Services and Contingency Operations Divisions, Night Watch, and Vice Unit. He also worked to combat street-level drug operations and human trafficking, investigate robbery and major fraud, and as a supervisor in the criminal investigations and fugitive task force divisions.

His first day with the MARTA Police Department is March 9.
