The Texas Transit Association named First Transit's Brad Underwood the state's Outstanding General Manager of the Year. Underwood currently holds the position of executive director for the Texoma Area Paratransit System (TAPS). This recognition is given based on an individual's outstanding contributions to the public transportation industry.

Underwood has been active in the transportation industry for four years. He began as the TAPS chairman of the board in 2007 and was named executive director in 2009. Currently, Underwood oversees 138 employees and the operations of 96 transit buses.

Under his leadership, TAPS's ridership has increased nearly 60 percent. Underwood has implemented new routes and relationships with outside organizations that have better assisted the transportation needs of his customers.
