The Honolulu City Council has promised to take a critical look at Oahu's controversial bus rapid transit project. About $14 million has been spent in planning the BRT system, which has raised questions on if it really is a faster means of transit than driving. Another $31 million was set aside for the first phase of the project, which is projected to cost close to $500 million to get started. The council is concerned that the project does not have the state's support.
