On June 15, the Port Authority of Allegheny County opened the 2.3-mile Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway Extension. The extension of the buses-only roadway allows the Port Authority to provide efficient bus rapid transit along 9.1 miles of exclusive right-of-way. The Port Authority expects the extension to eventually attract 10,000 new riders and help alleviate traffic congestion in eastern communities. Construction of the extension also included 814 new park-and-ride spaces. For more on the busway, click here.
