The construction phase of Nova Bus’ newest bus assembly plant, located in Plattsburgh, N.Y., is complete, with the official plant inauguration ceremony planned for late spring, the company announced on Tuesday.

“We are happy to see the building finished and the assembly line built with world-class manufacturing equipment,” said Gilles Gervais, vice president, operations, for Nova Bus. “We are putting everything forward to be ready to meet the needs and requirements of our business partners, whether in terms of short delivery lead times or quality.”

The first laydown in the plant took place in late March and a 90-day period is scheduled to ensure proper plant ramp up. By the end of 2009, the daily production rate will be two vehicles per day, with the first customer deliveries taking place this fall.
