TOPEKA, Kan.KTKA.com reports that in an attempt to balance the city's $850,000 deficit, Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten and city councilman Bob Archer may call for anywhere from $700,000 to $1.2 million to be cut from the city’s transit budget. Council members increased the agency’s funding by 47 percent in 2009 because ridership in 2008 was at all-time high. However, as of March of 2010 ridership has dropped by nearly half.
