BOSTON — Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority unveiled a plan that would raise commuter rail fares an average of 29%, depending on travel zone, while bus and subway fares would rise an average 23% with some service reductions, according to The Sun Chronicle.

The plan, which will be presented for approval to the board of directors of the MBTA, also includes $61 million in one-time revenues that must be approved by the state Legislature to help close the agency’s $159 million deficit. For the full story, click here.
