Recently, Detroit’s Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) exercised a five-year option for transit management services with First Transit. The decision was made by SMART on behalf of the Lake Erie Transit Commission.

First Transit will manage the transit operations for Lake Erie Transit (LET) and its 65 employees. LET operates 33 vehicles, responsible for transporting more than 400,000 passengers annually through fixed-route and paratransit services.

This contract extension will take effect July 1.
