DES MOINES, Iowa — After ads that encouraged transit riders to drive instead of taking the bus appeared on area bus stop benches, Elizabeth Presutti, GM of the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, asked city officials to update city code to ban such messages, the Des Moines Register reported.

Presutti wrote in a letter that the ads send conflicting messages from the city and transit system, which publicly promote the support and use of alternative transportation. After she sent the letter, some of the ads have been removed. For the full story, click here.
