LAKEWOOD, Wash. — To increase farebox revenue and end transfer-ticket abuse among passengers, Pierce Transit will replace paper transfers, which customers often reuse, with magnetic strip technology, according to The News Tribune.

The magnetic strip technology would require the replacement of all fareboxes, many of which are more than 20 years old. The agency plans to pay for it with a $2 million federal grant. For the full story, click here.
