Baton Rouge agency to look into alt.-fuel bus options

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Capital Area Transit System is looking at the cost-effectiveness of adding alternative fuel buses to its fleet. The agency's approved hiring the University of New Orleans Transportation Institute to provide a report evaluating alternative fuel options and recommending the best solution for CATS, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

Currently, CATS, which has no alternative fuel vehicles in its fleet, is considering compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, hydrogen, biodiesel, electric and diesel-hybrid options, agency officials said.
