San Antonio’s VIA taps new CEO

Jeffrey Arndt has been VIA’s interim president/CEO since the previous holder of the position, Keith Parker, left last November to head up the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. Arndt came to San Antonio from Houston where he worked for 25 years at the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County.

NJ Transit passes FY 2014 budget

The board approved a $1.941 billion operating budget and a $1.228 billion capital program for the fiscal year that started July 1, 2013.

Md. MTA to continue some commuter service

The decision follows vocal support from more than 100 passengers and elected officials, who testified or offered written comments in support of the service, during a series of public hearings held in early June.

TriMet aims to roll out electronic fare system in 2015

Would start the system on a limited basis and fully launch it in 2017. Expects employee testing to be underway by September 2015, when the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail line opens.

New Flyer to deliver 50 Xcelsiors to Calif. transit

D.C. Metro introduces 3 new Twitter feeds

Bus and rail service information will move off of agency's main Twitter account into two separate feeds with service information from Metro's operations control centers via the MetroAlerts system.

85% of Denver residents support transit expansion program

Some 800 area residents responded to the public opinion survey, which was conducted by BBC Research & Consulting. The survey’s margin of error was plus or minus 3.5%.
