U. of Maryland no longer opposed to campus rail

University leaders who were previously concerned that the trains would endanger walkers and cyclists said that Maryland MTA has since addressed those issues. The University’s support gives a major boost to the project as transit officials seek federal funding.

TTC may adopt regional smart card

A big part of the province’s decision to develop Presto cards for $250 million was to facilitate transit trips using one fare card across municipal systems. The move will make Presto more ubiquitous in the region since 85 per cent of area commuters include the TTC in their trips.

AC Transit, Caltrain to get bailout

Regional transportation officials approved a plan to allow the agencies to divert millions of dollars intended to maintain or purchase buses and railcars to fill substantial gaps in their operating budgets.

CTA approves new procurement process

In the reverse auction bid process, vendors submit all other requirements of the bid package except for the price. The price is finalized during the auction where vendors have allotted time to under bid each other in order to secure contracts.
